Q: Do I need to buy my tickets in advance?

A: Advance purchase of tickets can save you time and money. Tickets can be purchased at a discounted rate through September 1, 2009. However, they are also available at the gate for a slightly higher price.

 

Q: I have never been to a Yacht Show before, is there any etiquette that I should know about?

A: While at YachtFest, please be respectful of the yachts and the crew you are visiting. It is advised to ask permission before boarding the vessel.  

Your cooperation in following the directives of the crew with regard to shoes, food, and beverages onboard the yachts is greatly appreciated. Many captains require all guests remove their shoes before boarding.  

Please help to keep the yachts tidy and neat by throwing trash into the proper receptacle.

Q: What are the show hours?

A: The show will be held on Thursday, September 16th thru Sunday, September 20 from 11a.m. to 6p.m. daily at the Shelter Island Marina.

 

Q: What if it rains?

A: Due to the difficulties in scheduling all of these superyachts, the show will not be postponed due to rain.

 

Q: Is there a yacht length requirement to participate in YachtFest?

A: Although there is no specific length, the yacht selection committee uses a number of criteria including value, age, build and length when reviewing yacht applications.

 

Q: Do I have to let everyone on board my yacht?

A: No. YachtFest has a new ticket structure this year to help you better control traffic on your yacht. We ask that you allow our “preferred boarding” pass holders on board, but the general admission attendees are at your discretion. This will allow you to spend more time with the most qualified attendees.

 

Q: What if my yacht sells before the show?

A: YachtFest understands that yachts actively for sale may receive an offer at any time. However, we don’t want you to miss the chance to be in the show by waiting to reserve your spot. If your yacht sells 30 days or more prior to the show move-in date (Monday of event week), you will receive a full refund, minus a $250 processing fee. You must provide proof of sale including signed contract. You also have the opportunity to fill your slip with another yacht, as long as it is approved by our selection committee.
